Short Bio

Selim holds a Master Degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Technology in Vienna. During his studies he participated in a student exchange program at University of South Australia (UNISA) in Adelaide/Australia. In 1997 he was given a LEONARDO scholarship for a practical training placement in Italy. After finishing his studies in 1997 he has worked as a consultant, software engineer and project manager for several minor and major companies throughout Europe.

Since 2008 Selim Erol has joined Vienna University of Economics and Business as as a researcher and lecturer. In 2012 he obtained his doctoral degree (with distinction) in Business Information Systems and was appointed an Assistant Professor (post-doc Univ.-Ass.) at Vienna University of Technology - Institute of Computer Technology and later at the Institute of Management Sciences. During the last years Selim Erol has worked on several research projects mainly in the field of software engineering, business process engineering and intelligent manufacturing systems. Selim Erol has received an outstanding paper award for a jointly authored journal paper and has published several peer-reviewed papers in scientific conferences and journals. He has served as a reviewer, committee member and organizer for various scientific conferences. Selim Erol has taught courses in Operations Management, Business Process Management, Enterprise Information Systems, HCI/CSCW and Information Systems Design.
